MIAMI (AP)—Atlanta’s lead in the National League East division was sliced to one game after the Braves were beaten 6-1 by the Florida Marlins on Friday.

Hamels (9-10) continued to receive little run support, but didn’t need much as he ran his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 18. He struck out seven.
A Milwaukee miscommunication led to the game’s only run. Center fielder Lorenzo Cain(notes) and left fielder Ryan Braun converged on a fly ball by Shane Victorino(notes), but it dropped between them for a double. Victorino moved to third on a groundout and scored on Carlos Ruiz’s(notes) groundout.
Ryan Madson(notes) worked the ninth for his fifth save.

In Chicago, Alfonso Soriano(notes) and Blake DeWitt(notes) hit three-run homers for Chicago in the win over New York.
Soriano capped a four-run fourth off Mets starter R.A. Dickey(notes) (9-6), putting the Cubs ahead 4-3 after the Mets had lead early. DeWitt went long in the sixth as the Cubs went out to a 7-4 lead.
James Russell(notes) (1-1) got one out to end the eigth inning and take the win. Carlos Marmol(notes) worked the ninth for his 26th save.
Pirates 8, Nationals 5
In Pittsburgh, Ryan Doumit(notes) had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs to help Pittsburgh defeat Washington.
Pittsburgh’s Garrett Jones(notes) drove in three runs to help inflict the Nationals’ third straight loss.
Pirates starter Zach Duke(notes) (7-12) pitched five innings for Falcons jersey
the win and left after failing to retire any of the four batters he faced in the sixth as Washington scored four runs to close to 8-5. He allowed five hits and had five strikeouts.
Washington starter Livan Hernandez(notes) (9-10) gave up eight runs in 4 1-3 innings.
